It’s funny sometimes how word gets around about us. Remember the Bavarian Adventure vow renewal we did last fall? Well, it got passed around the interwebs pretty good (stay tuned and you *might* even see it featured on an insanely rad wedding blog very soon). It just so happens that it made it all the way to the west coast and in front of the eyes of Rebecca Scott, a rad little San Francisco jewelry designer. It wasn’t long after when she reached out to us with her story.

Immediately we could see the passion and heart behind what she’s doing. Rebecca owns Rebecca Scott Jewelry, a tiny company with a huge vision. As she grew her business, she realized something was missing. The busy-ness of life was starting to take away from her real job: being a mother. And from this birthed Jay + Renae, a Modern Collective. And that’s all I’m going to say…I don’t want to ruin the story!

We had an incredible time in San Francisco and can’t thank Rebecca enough for inviting us to not only tell her story, but also inviting us into her home for 5 days. We felt like family…and that made a difference in getting to know her, her heart, and her story. It’s the little investments like that from a client that can make a huge difference. We…LOVE…Sarasota! When Anita first contacted us about the possibility of filming her Sarasota, Florida wedding, it didn’t take too much arm-twisting for us to say YES! And we’re so glad we were able to tell their story! Anita and Derek and their families invited us into their lives as if we were family, and we were honored to spend time with such amazing people. An incredible venue, an absolutely breathtaking January day, and a super rad couple put the day (and the film) over the top. This was the second wedding that we had the privilege of taking on with Kim at The Perfect Settings and Al at Gordon-Ralston Photography. Events with Taste is the bomb. Is that saying “out” now? Can we still say that? Oh well, we did. We’ve known Michelle and the Events with Taste crew for quite some time, tackling some rad weddings together in the past (have you seen Ruby Falls?). The best part about being great friends with the food crew (besides the killer fun), is the incredible food we have the pleasure of partaking in during weddings and other gigs together. Although we’re not full-fledged foodies, we like to think we are. Who doesn’t like scrumdiddilyumptious food??!!

When Michelle began talking to us about the desire for a promotional film for Events with Taste, we were “in” from the get-go. Digging deeper past the incredible food we already knew and loved, we began to learn so much more about her, the team, and all the hard work that goes into doing what they do. That very thing is often the hardest concept to get across to potential clients (we feel ya, sister!), so we knew we had our work cut out for us. The further we learned, the more we were in awe at the amount of relationship fostering, planning, prep work, menu building, ordering, cooking, transporting, design, serving, and clean up (oh, and multiply that by several events per day oftentimes). That’s just to name the few basics. It definitely smacks you with a reality check when you see all that goes into it, and definitely sheds all kinds of light on why catering costs what it does. It’s soooo worth it.

All that to say, we would love for you to sit back and take in the Events with Taste team and see what’s going down in their world. Oh, and if you have a wedding/event/party/whatever coming up that needs food or design, then look no further.

Ever met two people that worked at Disney together? Yeah, us neither. Until Megan and Brian. And they’re awesome. What a great story they have, and we loved telling it for you. In Disney fashion, Megan donned a gorgeous gown that was nothing short of a princess herself. The day was complete with a stunning ceremony at Scarritt-Bennett, a rockin’ reception at the historic Loveless Barn, and all kinds of fun times with Evin Photography and Firefly Events.

There’s not many times in life that you get to do something really special for your family. This was one of them. Meet my sister, Robyn, and her husband, Brent. Robyn and Brent have been an inspiration to me for the past almost 20 years. A man and woman of God, serving Him faithfully no matter the cost. Like many of us trying to do the same, it’s not without troubles along the way. Thankfully, marriage is a covenant. Not only a covenant between two people, but more important a covenant between them and God; a sweet picture of the covenant that Christ made with us, his bride, on the cross.

We had the incredible pleasure of hopping on a plane in October to the Imperial Valley in Southern California where Robyn and Brent serve at a small church. Not only did we get some sweet time with family, but we were able to document and tell the story of their vow renewal. A renewal of their covenant to each other and to God. What a wonderful picture of how, through Christ, we can overcome any troubles that come our way. Marriage is hard work (yes, work), but oh the joy of a Christ-centered marriage that glorifies Him. Enjoy their story!

Um, holy crap. I really don’t know where to start. As many of you may know, Jimmy and Brittany Moncrief are great friends of ours. They are the rad people behind Moncrief Photography and are some of our best friends on the planet. No foolin’. A few years ago, we started throwing around the idea of taking an epic trip together…a trip that would most definitely need to involve a photo session of us from them, a film of them from us, and some cycling (Jimmy and Robert are all up in some cycling). Having family in Germany and having visited a few years ago, we threw it out, all stamped our approval on it, and the trip was born.

Fast forward two years to the fall of 2012, and we all hit the plane for Bavaria, Germany. Jimmy and I (Robert) spent the first four days of the trip cycling the backroads of the state of Bavaria, top to bottom. I don’t use the word “epic” very much, but this was indeed EPIC! To follow all the shenanigans and a bazillion Instagram photos, you’ll have to spend a few hours on our Tumblr page for the trip, bikebavaria2012.tumblr.com. There’s so much more I could say about the trip, but let’s get to the point…the Moncriefs.

2012 was the Moncrief’s 10 year anniversary. Wanting to make it as memorable as possible, they decided to do a vow renewal on our trip, in Germany, at the base of the Alps. Yep. Key. So, what did we do? Film the heck outta that sucker. It’s amazing what can happen when two people have a “whatever you want to do” approach to making a film. We can’t thank Brittany and Jimmy enough for giving us the freedom to do what we do, trust us to do it, and invest in their own film by putting the effort into making it memorable with the incredible words of renewal to each other. It makes all the difference in a film, and we thank you!

Brittany and Jimmy, we LOVE you! And those words don’t do it justice. So, how about “wir lieben euch”!!

So…Shea and Josh. We honestly have so much love for these two it’s hard to even know where to begin or how to express it all without boring all our followers. We first met Shea about a year and a half ago when we filmed the incredible wedding of her sister, Lindsey. Since then, we’ve kept in touch and just absolutely adore their family. Lo and behold, Shea meets Josh, Josh proposes, Shea calls us, and we jump up and down at the chance to tell their story!

Shea, being a photographer herself (By Shea), knows what’s up. When we talked to her about how they can best invest in their own film with toasts and writing their own vows, it was a no-brainer for them. As you can tell from the film, it just wouldn’t be the same without it.

Ummmm…where do I even start with this one? This is easily the most awesome-sauce wedding we’ve ever shot. Our couple, Jaclyn + Pablo, are from Miami and wanted a Chattanooga destination wedding. Not only that, but Jaclyn (a head designer in Miami) wanted something a little…different. Long story short, through the incredible gals over at Soirees, we end up with a wedding…in a cave…1120 feet below the surface…in front of a 145 foot tall waterfall, namely Ruby Falls. On top of that, they booked the raddest band we’ve ever seen…Fly-by Radio, an 80′s big-hair cover band that has quite the cult following (and rightly so). Topping it all off was a insanely fun day with our friend Amber Holritz (backed up by our crazy gal Meghan) photographing the insanity. You MUST see the images! (see below)
